Good afternoon Brooklyn Brownstone School and happy Friday!
At this time, I am happy to report that Brooklyn Brownstone School is ahead of the curve with preparedness. We will continue to adapt as the situation evolves. In class, teachers are still progressing with learning as usual with engaging rigorous lessons. There are a few updates regarding our response to COVID-19: •We are scheduled to remain open •Field trips for March are postponed •All PTA, SLT, Community Meetings, IEP Meetings, etc. are either postponed or occurring via phone conference. Parents, call before you stop in. School Safety may hold you at the security desk if you are picking up your child. •We are awaiting notification on NY State tests for 3rd-5th grade students •If your child is absent or you are planning on keeping them home, please contact me or your child’s teacher ASAP so we can provide you with our at-home learning package •Absences for the 2019-2020 school year will not impact middle school applications for your child in the future •Pre-K parents are asked not to enter their child’s classroom in the morning. Please leave their coats, backpacks, etc. on and allow them to enter the class independently •GoProject is cancelled for March •Tutoring and before and after-school enrichment continues Have a wonderful weekend. Limit your travel. Practice excellent hygiene and be well. See you Monday! Mr. Brunner Good afternoon Brooklyn Brownstone School,
I’ve heard from a lot of you regarding concerns about school cleanliness and our ability to provide at-home support. Please read the following in response to those concerns: CLEANLINESS: The Department of School Facilities has already delivered emergency cleaning supplies that Brooklyn Brownstone School is utilizing by increasing the frequency of cleaning and including multiple “deep” cleans a week by custodial staff. Additionally, Brooklyn Brownstone Staff clean their classrooms and work spaces twice a day during lunch and after dismissal. Teachers have addressed hygiene and cleanliness with the students through lessons and they continue to monitor student habits to ensure they are following suggested guidelines. AT-HOME SUPPORT: At the time there are no plans to close Brooklyn Brownstone School. That does not mean our leadership team has not been working to ensure we have an action plan in place. Today, Mrs. Richards compiled hard copies and set up online resources that are ready to be utilized in the event of school closing, self-quarantine, or other extenuating circumstances. Communication is crucial. Please be sure to message me if you have any questions or concerns and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Thank you. All the best, Mr. Brunner |
