This Black History Month, Brooklyn Brownstone School is adding some layers to our learning through conversation, community building, research, and sharing.

BLACK LIVES MATTER AT SCHOOL
Week of Action: February 6 - 10
All classrooms will engage in age-appropriate community conversations focused on 5 of the 13 principals of BLM at School including: Restorative Justice, Empathy, Love Engagement, Diversity, and Black Families.

BLACK HISTORY
All classrooms are engaged in project based learning focused on the history, struggle, and contributions of African Americans. These projects range from posters and slideshows to "living museums."

Motown Tribute: Thursday, February 16th at 1PM in the auditorium
Living Wax Museum Gallery Walk: Friday, March 3rd in Kindergarten

BLACK FUTURES
Black Futures is a forward thinking approach to Black History Month. Through discussion, writing, and creative expression students will be celebrating, envisioning, and working toward positive futures for Black people.\

This is possible due to the collaborative work of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Team, teachers, and parents. Thank you for supporting our commitment to this effort through your hard work and planning.
